The 2014 Travers Stakes has a highly competitive field that includes the winner of the Belmont Stakes and a favored horse trained by one of the all-time greatest trainers in horse racing history. Among the current field of 10 horses, Bayern is the favorite and is trained by Hall of Fame horse trainer Bob Baffert. Owned and kept in California by Kaleem Shah, the three-year-old colt is a 2-1 favorite to win the Aug. 23 Travers Stakes that will have a field of 10 horses in all. Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist is the next-favored horse at 3-1 odds while Wicked Strong, winner of the Jim Dandy, is a close 7-2 favorite to win the event. The racing field features many of the nation’s best three-year-old thoroughbreds in the 145th running of the race at one of the nation’s oldest and most esteemed race courses.
