In horse racing, Exotic Wagers are those made that are other than the various varieties of straight bets, such as Win, Place and Show. The wagers allow bettors to predict how more than one horse will perform in a race and to wager on up to four horses on one ticket. Depending on how those horses finish, the ticket holder could win a large sum with as little as a $2 wager. Such bets generally are best left to professionals and skilled enthusiasts who have good knowledge of the horses and riders. Beginning bettors generally are best advised to avoid Exotic Wagers, unless they have some good information from more experienced handicappers.
